Another home is invaded

A recent rash of home invasion robberies in the Northeast continued last week when a man broke into an occupied Wissinoming house and stole hundreds of dollars in electronic equipment.

The heist occurred at about 2:05 a.m. on June 12 on the 6200 block of Marsden St. when an unknown man entered a basement where a 16-year-old boy was sleeping, said Officer Jillian Russell, a Philadelphia police spokeswoman.

The victim awoke to find the intruder standing over him with a gun. The robber demanded cash and guns, but ended up taking a PlayStation, game discs, an iPod and DVDs before fleeing in an unknown direction. The stolen items had a combined value of $1,650, Russell said.

No injuries were reported. The intruder was described only as a black male, Russell said.

Police have no definitive evidence that the June 12 incident was related to similar break-ins that occurred on June 9 and 10 on the 1300 block of Friendship St. in Castor Gardens, as well as the 4000 block of Greeby St. and the 4800 block of Longshore Ave., both in Tacony.
